Taking inspiration from former fellow raging NW bass-and-drums acts like Big Business and godheadSilo, vocalist Kennedy Carda, bassist/vocalist Yos-wa, and drummer Keith Tucker have been playing together for only two years. But in that time, MONOGAMY PARTY has managed to cause all manner of commotions in venues up and down the West Coast. They’ve been hailed for their “reckless abandon” on Seattle music blog Sound on the Sound, and The Stranger recently said: “They’re like These Arms Are Snakes meets Karp meets Black Eyes. They’re great.”
Live, MONOGAMY PARTY is a force of nature. Kennedy exerts considerable energy punishing the audience with his body, as he belts out impassioned stream-of-consciousness rants. His band mates follow suit with a powerful, punk-inspired attack. It’s unrelenting, aggressive, and impossible to ignore. The band have also managed to capture this raw energy in the studio, working with producer Chris Proff (Strong Killings, Mercy Ties, Ravenna Woods) on a debut 10″ called Pus City released last fall on Seattle imprint Good to Die Records.
In just under two weeks, MONOGAMY PARTY will embark on a 10 date tour, their first in support of Pus City, that has been deemed the “Face Ripper” West Coast Tour 2012. Beginning with a show in Portland on February 24th, the Seattle trio will be hitting Arcata, Oakland, Los Angeles (twice), San Diego, San Francisco, and Reno before heading back north to finish the tour with a second Portland show alongside Relapse Records recording artists Rabbits on March 3rd and finally a FREE Seattle show at the Cha Cha Lounge on March 4th with White Coward and Mercy Ties.
Like everything MONOGAMY PARTY does, these forthcoming dates are not to be missed. This is a band that demands your attention. The best you can do is look right into the eye of the storm, and hold on for dear life.
