0 Brothers of the Sonic Cloth to Release 10"

Great news on the local heavy music front. I just found out that Brothers of the Sonic Cloth are finally going to release something proper in 2009. I picked up their cd-r demo a year ago at a show, and am so ready to hear more. If you are not familiar with BOTSC, it's the newest project from Tad Doyle formally of Seattle's own TAD and Hog Molly. BOTSC formed in 2007 and I caught their 1st show ever at El Corazon with the now defunct Middian (PDX), Indian, and Asunder. Tad is a heavy music mastermind, and plays some of the most respected massive music on Earth. It's well worth checking out his entire catalog. It's heavy shit!

From taddoyle.com:

"BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH is announcing plans to do a split 10" vinyl release with their friends MICO DE NOCHE. The split 10" release is slated to start recording in July for the BROTHERS at Studio Witch Ape and for MICO DE NOCHE at Temple Sound in Port Orchard, WA with Tony Reed (MOS GENERATOR, STONE AXE). We are hoping to have this record ready for consumption as early as September 2009. Tentative release date for the split is slated for 10/31/2009, that..s Halloween MFs!"

Speaking of Portland's Middian who called it quits in 2007 after a "cease and desist" order was filed by a unknown Wisconsin band of the same name. They fought the lawsuit but by all accounts it tore the band apart personally and financially. This sucked bad, they were amazing! Middian's main man Mike Scheidt was also the front man for a well respected Doom metal band called YOB. Eugene's YOB broke up in 2006 after 4 albums, which lead to Mike starting Middian. Anyways, the good news to all this is that YOB is back! They are readying release of their fifth album "The Great Cessation", and let me tell you I have previewed the album in it's entirety and it is nothing short of crushing. At about the 10 minute mark of the albums 12 minute opener "Burning the Altar", Mike lets out this banshee like scream that sends chills down my spine. It's a brutal record, probably the heaviest in the YOB catalog. Mike Scheidt along with newcomers Travis Foster, and Aaron Reiseberg have set the bar very high this time around. Hear that track out on their myspace page: www.myspace.com/yobdoom
