0 [NEWS] Bonnaroo Announcement Scheduled for February 9th

So yeah, my wife and I are going to Bonnaroo this year! Not to gloat but opportunities like this don't come around every year and we are stoked.

So picture my ass this morning at around 9am frantically hitting refresh on my browser with a slight layer of sweat on my brow like I was trying to score tickets to an impossible show. (i.e. Pearl Jam at Benaroya Hall circa 2003).

Neurotic? Slightly.

Come on, it'll be an amazing experience especially for a music nut like myself. So of course I'm stoked and a little consumed with who will be included on my destiny lineup, who wouldn't?

WTF!

This morning's announcement came and went and it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for.

Instead I was met with this: On Tuesday, February 9th, the 2010 Bonnaroo Music Festival will make a “very special unveiling.”

It turns out that this unveiling will be taking place throughout the 9th, as it will be a “virtual event for Bonnaroo fans,” who will be able to view and discuss the confirmed lineup on Bonnaroo.com as it is revealed.

I guess this means a week of sleepless nights thinking about the possibilities. Good thing a couple major rumors and a sure thing were brought to light this afternoon.

It seems The Flaming Lips' frontman Wayne Coyne mentioned in a recent interview with Spinner that The Flaming Lips will perform Pink Floyd’s "Dark Side of the Moon" in it's entirety during a late night set on the first night (Thursday?). Coyne said in the interview: “We do a Flaming Lips set then starting about 2:30 we do this Dark Side of the Moon thing. In that sense, it’s perfect for that. It lets you play a little bit longer.”

Hell yeah! Sounds like the perfect addition to a festival that is known for its psychedelics and late nights. (For the record that is not to say I'll being participating in the festivals legendary drug use.)

Also making rumor waves rounds is the idea that both Paul Simon and Paul McCartney will headline as well. Whoa!

That's it for now.
