A huge and very timely announcement came yesterday from the Megadeth camp, as founding member and original bassist Dave Ellefson has ceremonously returned to the Megadeth fold. This news comes on the brink of a headlining North American tour that will feature the band playing their 1990 heavy metal clinic "Rust in Piece" in it's entirety. This is pretty historical news for any "Droogie" especially the ones who live east of the mountains in Spokane. They will get the very first show of the "Rust in Piece 20th Anniversary Tour" that also features Exodus and Testament on March 1st, as well as witness the Dave's first time on a stage together since before Megadeth's disbanding in 2002. Strangely enough this will be the first time Megadeth plays one of my all-time personal favorite songs live -- "Five Magics". Better late than never, I suppose.
We Seattleittes will get our chance September 3rd as the rescheduled North American Carnage Tour with Slayer and Testament finally comes to town. Not sure if Megadeth will play "Rust in Piece" then, so it may be worth getting the day off and making the trip to Spokane. Damned if I haven't being going back and forth on the idea.
