Just a quick heads up on a couple stand out shows tonight in the city.
First the Northwest’s foremost innovators of beyond epic black metal are playing at Black Lodge, which should make for some interesting atmosphere and volumes unmatched by any of the previous shows I’ve seen (i.e. Sunset, El Corazon, and Neumos). If you haven’t checked out the Alarm Press piece on the band it’s a must read, furthermore Alarm Press is a must subscribe. I know there’s a hefty start up fee, but man is it an excellent periodical and resource. The Black lodge bill also features the black metal stylings of Ariatch, and doom-laden blackened psychedelia of Megaton Leviathan. Both openers name Portland as home.

Next is the show over at Funhouse featuring Vultures2012, a band that has already been highly touted by SRG.com as a must see local band for those who like it super heavy. This lineup also features local hardcore outfit-- The Helm and and death metal purveyors-- Churchburner, both of whom are very solid in their own right. $5, don’t be stupid.
