Review and Videos by Nik Christofferson
Last night the mighty Alice in Chains once again rocked a devout Seattle crowd out of their beloved Converse. The first of a sold out two night stand at Seattle's historic Paramount Theater featured a slew of tracks off "Black Gives Way to Blue" that had not previously been played live in front of the home town fans before. The set opened as I had hoped with the beautifully hypnotic "All Secrets Known", thrust straight into "It Ain't Like That", and continued on with the mammoth hits that make the band so celebrated. William Duvall was again spot on and even got his chance in the spotlight on AIC's most metal tune to date, "Last of My Kind". The song in particular most seperates and showcases Duvall's unique voice from that of the late great Layne Staley (RIP), and was a much welcomed and well received addition to the evenings set list. Other tunes making their live debuts in Seattle were "Your Decision" and "Lesson Learned". It was sing-a-long to the end, making this most recent Alice in Chains homecoming another memorable experience.
