Black Breath – Heavy Breathing (Southern Lord – 2010)
Seattle’s resident black thrashers Black Breath rip roar something fierce on their balls to the grindstone full length debut, “Heavy Breathing”. This scathing assault on the auditory senses sees the band breathing absolute hell fire in the form of 10 unrelenting tracks, building upon the sound that no doubt summoned the mighty Southern Lord to come calling back in 2009.
The double kick drum beat down of “Eat the Witch”, unforgiving breakdowns of “I Am Beyond”, and signature tornado churn of “Virus”, leave barely a second to come up for air. By record end only one question remains: Is there such thing as sandpaper metal? This record will refinish your cabinets, hardwoods, and remove that unsightly mole from your face.
