Words by Jerry Howard
As I have explained before, a Red Fangover sounds harsh, maybe something needing to be avoided. Get that ludicrous thought out of your head at this moment. A Red Fangover is a euphoric feeling that launches you into a three day zombie trance complete with permagrin. To obtain such a blissful state, an individual must throw down some domestic brews (actually, brew of your choice works. Remember, it's what makes you happy!) and go see RED FANG live. Follow these two easy steps and you're golden, guaranteed the time of your life.
Back in March, the SRG crew traveled south to Portland to see the mighty Red Fang on their home turf, which proved to be a great move. During the show, beer cans flew overhead, dousing all underneath with a PBR shower. Don "Chile" took it upon himself to unload a half a tall boy on my back. Mix the brew with perspiration and one could infer the smell emitting from me. As soon as I set foot back at my pad in Seattle, my wife could smell me. "EWWWWWWWWWWWW!" She exclaimed, but the horror on her face quickly metamorphosed into a smile. A Red Fangover is contagious and helps assuage the unpleasant residue of domestic swill setting up camp in one's clothing.
You gotta try out a Red Fangover and this weekend YOU CAN! The mighty Red Fang stops at the Sunset with local bad asses, Kinski. This is the bill of the summer!
To get you in the mood, check out Red Fang's video "Prehistoric Dog." This video has it all: a rockin' band, a kick ass jam, and comedy. In fact, it would be easy to say that Red Fang has produced one of the best videos ever made. No shit. Director Whitey McConnaughy has nailed it. Whitey has directed several videos for Northwest bands like Visqueen, Mudhoney, and Kinski to name a few. Click here to check it out. This guy demonstrates magnificent directing chops. Check out The Gossip's "Listen Up" video: outstanding! This guy knows what he's doing and is a filmmaker to keep an eye on.
"Prehistoric Dog" rules! Don't miss Red Fang this Saturday, June 26th at the Sunset Tavern in Ballard. If you bring a can of food, you can get a $10 ticket and experience a Red Fangover!
