0 SHOW PREVIEW: Black Happy Sells Out....

...5 reunion shows, and three of them are this weekend at The Crocodile.

I remember very little from my time at Washington State University that doesn't involve massive consumption of booze....

We rocked man, and it was a blast.

Reflecting on that little adventure sometimes brings to mind hazy regrets, and even more what ifs, but of course that is no way to live one’s life... in the past. We all did stupid shit when we were young, and it was a learning experience that not only introduced me to my lovely wife, but created a lifelong bond with the fellas of LCA.

Music played a very large part in my days in Pullman, WA,  much of it while swilling cheap pitchers at The Coug-- the awesome local dive that sat next door to the fraternity house where I held residence. There is one record that sits above all others, one that instantly transports me back to that time and the bar where I spent so many nights surrounded by friends, throwing darts, and rocking out. That record is Black Happy's "Peghead".

For me “Peghead” remains the quintessential college record, despite it having been released a number of years prior, and the band deceased for just as long. It was so popular among folks who knew better that it had remained in The Coug's trusty jukebox year after year after year-- I’m assuming since the early 90’s when the band used to frequently play WSU fraternity parties.

Basically, if you were WSU alumni in the past 15-20 years and you aren’t familiar with "Chicken in a Biscuit" or "Home", then you just plain missed out on an integral part of your college education. I've said it before and will say it again; Black Happy was the soundtrack to so many great nights at The Coug. From the open-to-close sing-a-longs to a quick Coug burger lunch on a Saturday afternoon, there was never a bad time to select a track off “Peghead” to set the mood correct.

As you may or may not know Black Happy announced a one-off mini reunion tour a few months ago that would include 5 shows-- two nights in Spokane last weekend and 3 nights in Seattle at the Crocodile this weekend. Well, all 5 shows SOLD OUT and very quickly—so quickly that The Crocodile added the Sunday show after the fact. This is a pretty awesome and rare opportunity to see a great NW band back in action, so scour Craigslist and if you already have tickets, enjoy. It should be a great time whichever night you go.
