0 SHOW PREVIEW: Cancer Bats / Heiress @ El Corazon

Opinions about exactly what style of music the Toronto band Cancer Bats write and perform is as varied as the crowd that appreciates it. The first time I saw the band play was in their Canadian hometown in '05 with the metal band Through the Eyes of the Dead and the crowd couldn't get enough. The second time I saw them play was at a basement show here in Seattle with a couple of crust bands and they fit perfectly there as well. In fact, since their spectacular debut album "Birthing the Giant" was released in 2006, Cancer Bats have toured with Anti-Flag, Gallows, Every Time I Die and more so good luck trying to pin down exactly what the band does if you have to find a category for them to appreciate it.

Cancer Bats' latest album, "Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones", the band's third full length release, was released this Spring and the band is just finishing a tour with Underoath, Between the Buried and Me and As I Lay Dying before they perform here in Seattle at El Corazon on Wed August 4th. I'm still partial to the band's debut album but Cancer Bats are always on top of their game live anyway. Sharing the stage with Cancer Bats will be Heiress (featuring vocalist John Pettibone of Himsa / Nineironspitfire / Undertow), Cowardice and Crutches. Doors are at 6pm, all ages and it's only $6 so don't miss it!
