Into the Storm's video had me singing a different tune upon seeing the cloaked protags entering the frame. It went a little something like this:
JAWA PARTY TONIGHT!
JAWA PARTY TONIGHT!
My childish song immediately gave way to the excellent soundtrack provided by the song, "Tearing Apart Space and Time."
Into the Storm had me hook, line, and sinker. The song, the cadre of cloaked homeys and, especially, the killer collection of books. Slaughter House Five alone led to the inference that these Jawas were going for a life altering ride.
Entering the book, Tearing Apart Space and Time, the Jawa party find themselves on an arduous voyage at sea, searching for something and, like most journeys of self-discovery, meet up with craziness in the form of a human hand picking up a bottle, which could symbolize consumption - a common occurrence when taking a trip to someplace else.
Shoreline - bottles scatter indicating the boys are knee deep in the madness. A robotic spider materializes, never a good sign.
Like one of the all time greats, Hunter S. Thompson, said, "Bad craziness, man."
Robospider displays a nasty steak, ripping and tearing the trippers until one steps forward, confronting the ugliness, helping the crew escape the journey. The heroes emerge from within the pages, only now garbed in white cloaks - changed. Scarred, the cloaked cadre has returned different than before - wiser. Life has transformed for the Jawas - there is no going back.
What bands lack in dollars, they make up in thought and creativity. Into the Storm has produced a thought provoking D.I.Y. video with cool, low budget effects. Major props to director Matt Jahn and everyone involved. The clever inclusion of the band ripping it up toward the end of the video manifests a cool effect. Word on the street is they have another video on deck, so when it comes out, expect another write up. Into the Storm is a band to look out for.
Into the Storm kick off a West Coast Tour along with Smooth Sailing Thursday August 19th at the Galway Arms with direct support from The Keeper, and MOUNTAINSS.
