Fingers crossed.
In order to do this, there must be a set of eyes and ears relaying the information of hidden gems awaiting to be heard. This is where our newest contributor comes in: Paul Goodall, a.k.a. Small Paul.
Small Paul hails from Nottingham, U.K. (yes, Robin Hood's hood!) and now resides in beautiful Brighton, a city located on the English Channel just south of London. Paul is straight up metal head, growing up in the shadows of Donnington with stories about Kyuss and other classic acts rolling into in his home town. In fact, his hometown brought the world Ear Ache records and the mighty Napalm Death. This dude's metal to the bone.
Not only is Small a metal head, but he is a DJ. He was a key figure in building the techno sound system: Pure Filth. Embodying a punk rock ethos, Pure Filth have been terrorizing squat parties and local clubs D.I.Y. style for over ten years and have hosted some of the biggest names in U.K. techno. Small Paul has played all over England, the Netherlands, and even out here in our neck of the woods when he delivered a filthy onslaught of Pure Filth ditties in Bellingham, Seattle, and Tacoma, respectively. Also something to note, local DJ Jerry Abstract had Paul play on his live, internet radio broadcast while visiting.
But that's not all...
Small Paul is a member of Taco Cart productions. He has given crucial feedback regarding script development, even writing and providing the voice for the newscaster in Girl Trouble> from all the way across the pond.
With his new column, View From Across the Pond, Small will report on Brighton's metal scene. I for one look forward to discovering what comes out of this vibrant city.
Welcome Small Paul!
Check out this video I shot while attending one of Pure Filth's shows in Nottingham.
