0 BUMBERSHOOT 2010: The Spits Light the Sky Church a Flame

DSC_0571

The Spits played less than a twenty minute set, some say 14 minutes. It was pretty damn obvious that they wanted nothing to do with Bumbershoot or the Sky Church or the security--  who pretty much made sure everyone stood motionless, as any sudden spazz out caused by one of the greatest punk bands of all time would get you ejected for moshing. The only redeeming aspect of The Spits playing the Sky Church was the flaming wall projected behind them. I'm sure the Spits prefer solemn beer soaked walls of a dive bar, but it was a pretty sweet visual for the audience.

Sean and Erin Spits hilariously bickered over sound quality on stage with Erin uttering "Just play the fucking song" while giving Sean the pouty lips. The whole thing wreaked of a two day hangover or bangover for that matter--  if you were at the Funhouse Saturday night where they left many battered, bruised, and unbelievably stoked. I'm just glad they got through 10 or so songs before taking a humorous curtain call bow. Bumbershoot highlight? You bet your ass.
