The promise of tonight’s "Verellen Amplifier's Night" being one of the best shows of the year is amazingly strong. If you aren’t familiar with the name Ben Verellen well then let me just quickly say that Ben is a guitar player, an amazing guitar player, one who has played in some outstanding bands over the years, bands like Harkonen, Roy, and the mighty Helms Alee. Ben is a craftsman both on stage and in an electrical workshop, as he makes custom hand built amplifiers for a living. His Verellen Amplifiers are currently providing the sonic backdrop for not only Helms Alee but also Akimbo, Narrows, Mico De Noche, Book of Black Earth, and Minus the Bear.
Tonight Ben and Helms Alee will be joined by Seattle hardcore crushers Akimbo, as well as monolithic juggernaut Narrows, a band that features Ben’s own brother Dave -- who once upon a time was the mighty screamer for Botch. Also on the bill is a brand new band culled from the ashes of both, Schoolyard Heroes and Bloodcells-- The Dark.
It’s worth noting that not often do you get a chance to see the Verellen bros play on the same night and it’s not often they are joined by long time metal bros Akimbo.
Helms Alee. Akimbo. Narrows.
The Brutal Triumvirat.
Tonight our ears will be treated to some of the heaviest music Seattle has to offer. Crushing brilliance will pour from Verellen Amplifiers like it was raining bricks upon our puny heads, and all will be right in the world. It’s gonna be a doozy.
