0 SRG ROADTRIP: MusicfestNW in PDX (Preview)

The post-Bumbershoot shakes and cobwebs have dissipated....

It’s a hundred and forty miles to Portland, we've got a full tank of gas, 3 cases of cheap American lager, a fifth of Jack, a half pack of smokes, a crate of metal records, a bag of zines, Deep Purple’s “Space Truckin” is cranked, and we're wearing sunglasses.

MusicfestNW begins tomorrow and its road trip time once again for the SRG crew. We are taking to the highway for a marathon weekend of shenanigans and depravity that’ll of course include a healthy dose of metal and punk rock. This year’s lineup is quite amazing, including the only NW appearance by a reunited Sleep, who will lay down the classic ‘Holy Mountain’ in its entirety. Also, on tap is round two with Baroness and the mighty Red Fang on Thursday, Black Lips, Thee Oh Sees, and The Gories on Friday, and Saturday will be beyond epic-- with a split between the Yob and Sleep show and punk legends Nomeansno. Other bands of note playing over the course of the weekend are Heiress, Toxic Holocaust, Pierced Arrows, Jeff the Brotherhood, Japandroids, and the Unnatural Helpers.

Will this be a repeat of our legendary Red Fang road trip from last April? It certainly has the potential, so look out Portland-- we’re gonna be up in your shit in no time.
