2 TICKET GIVEAWAY: Coliseum / Burning Love / Heiress @ The Funhouse

Back in 2007, High on Fire played the old Crocodile Café and on this tour I was exposed for the first time to a little known opening act from Louisville, Kentucky. That band was Coliseum, and they were out supporting their 2nd full length “No Salvation”-- a blazing collection of pissed off hardcore and metal. Coliseum blew my fucking mind. I bought a shirt, a record, a sticker, a button, a poster – I pretty much threw all my chips on the table and took stock in one of most sonically badass trios to come around in forever. Coliseum captures much of what I love about heavy music, their songs are aggressive, gritty, ferocious, and downright crushing in a live scenario.

A couple months ago, after three years of touring and three years of refining their sound, Coliseum dropped “House With A Curse”. I will say that there are few records to come across my desk this year that have impacted me more than the new Coliseum record. It is unequivocally badass-- a real trash a hotel room barnburner. With so much music available, it is sometimes hard to wade through the muck and stumble upon greatness. Coliseum is greatness personified, and you can see them this Monday September 6th at the Funhouse for FREE. To enter the drawing, please email your full name to giveaways@seattlerockguy.com with “Coliseum” in the subject before Sunday at 5pm and I’ll pick a winner at random.

Yes, I realize Bumbershoot is this weekend, but it has been three years since Coliseum has played Seattle, so do not miss this opportunity to bask in some serious ass kickery. Also on the bill are Burning Love and Heiress.

  2. I'm pretty sure they've played Studio Seven since then (with Napalm Death?)
