1 SHOW PREVIEW: Nile at El Corazon TONIGHT!
When Nile's Relapse debut, "Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka", was released in the late 90s I thought I'd heard one of the best death metal records ever produced. The music was fast and furious and the Egyptian mythology the band was expounding upon in both the art work and the lyrics made them stand out among the underground death metal bands of the time. With each release the band has built upon that first blueprint and still, now with a catalog six albums deep after last year's "Those Whom the Gods Detest", Nile is one of the best death metal bands releasing albums today.
Playing alongside Nile at El Corazon this Friday will be several bands as equally bad ass. The Tasmanian band Psycroptic, whose last record "(Ob)Servant" was one of my favorite of 2008, will also be performing. Also on stage will be Pathology who share some of the better qualities of bands like Dying Fetus and Cannibal Corpse on their latest record, "Legacy of the Ancients". Also performing will be Ex Deo, featuring Kataklysm vocalist Maurizio Iacono, Keep of Kalessin and the Seattle band Phlegethon.
Tonight's show is all ages, starts at 7pm and $18 at the door.
