Tonight at the Rendezvous / Jewelbox Theater SRG Presents two of Seattle’s brightest heavy bands paired with two of Portland, Oregon’s heaviest hitters.
Lord Dying and Nether Regions are widely respected in the burgeoning Portland heavy music scene lead by break-out band, Red Fang. Nether Regions, who were recently chosen to participate in Musicfest NW 2011, use a burly, bludgeoning delivery not unlike that of big-time bay area metal act High on Fire. Lord Dying are another animal all together -- with a scintillating two-pronged guitar attack and punishing rhythm section -- they blend elements of thrash and stoner metal to create something unique and beyond punishing to the ear drums. Lord Dying were recently chosen as direct support for Red Fang’s hometown record release show this past April. Bottomline is this will be a rare opportunity to see these two badass Portland bands in an intimate setting. They will shred your face off.
If you haven’t taken in a show by either Smooth Sailing or Serial Hawk and are a heavy music fan living in Seattle, then you are just plain missing out. Smooth Sailing blends post-rock, progressive metal and a touch of Botch inspired fury into something truly exciting. Their debut record “xoxo” is an awe-inspiring piece of music and when performed live it’s even more amazing to behold. Serial Hawk, are an up-and-coming sludge metal trio that love nothing more than to crush skulls with shear volume and monstrous riffs. They are impressively heavy, so show up early.
