1 LIVE REVIEW: Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, Cascabel, Transient, Spacebag, and The Drip

Ladies’ Choice throws some of the best shows in town. If you don’t know of Adam Noble Bass, let me help you out from under that rock you’ve obviously been living under.

Adam’s latest contribution to the Seattle metal scene was the scorching line-up of The Drip, Space Bag, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, Transient, and Cascabel at the comet.

To say the show was awesome is a total understatement. The Drip were totally on point with razor sharp riffs and heavier then punching a dinosaur with a fistful of glass. Super fast and brutal, they slam and grind with some of the best of them while keeping a firm foot in hardcore roots.

Space Bag is from another universe. A barrage of scorching hot riffs from all over the metal landscape, they absolutely destroyed. The only instrumental band of the line-up, their mastery over their instruments made them stand out amongst their peers.

If you’re into grind or other forms of extreme metal, you’d be doing yourself a disfavor by not giving “Visceral” by Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire a shot. The whole album is just so damn good, and the violent energy that they bring to their recording is mirrored and in some ways outdone by their excellent live show. Slow, sludgey, fat guy in a swamp style riffs fused with nuts in a belt sander, fast paced grinding goodness.

Female fronted Transient is a pleasure to watch. They’re one of those bands where every member of the band looks genuinely stoked to be playing. A giant bag of stuffed animals was distributed amongst the audience, resulting in a big, fuzzy, stuffed blur of flying plush toys.

Cascabel is just a damn good time. With such slow and chunky well crafted songs, it’s impossible not to head bang to them. Completely in sync with one another, the energy they put off is almost as infectious as their riffs.

All in all, another amazing night of excellent music at The Comet. Well done Adam. Well done.
