Nice cack! |
This show is kind of a big deal.
Tonight marks the return of Portland, Oregon's Black Elk. Much to the dismay of pretty much anyone who has ever heard the band-- infighting caused the much ballyhooed noise-rock act to go on hiatus back in 2009-- not long after they had the opportunity to open a string of west coast dates for the Jesus Lizard. The resurrected Black Elk is sporting a new rhythm section with bassist John Cota and drummer Alex Organ, but founding members Erik Trammel (guitar) and Tom Glose (vocals) are still intact. Original bassist Don Capuano, who is laying it down thick for SRG favorite Lord Dying, declined to participate in the reunion.
Black Elk is joined by the always amazing Helms Alee, Portland's Nether Regions, and Princess, who took the rest of 2011 off after they played an SRG show back in September. If you haven't had a chance to check out Princess' "The Grim Energy" EP, you are in luck as they have made it available for download for the first time on bandcamp, and it's FREE.
Excellent four band bill here, perfect way to shake off the cabin fever of this past weeks snow fall.
