Words by Nik Christofferson
This isn’t the first time or the last that I will sing the praises of one Adam Bass and his Ladies Choice Presents shows. He consistently and persistently crams amazing bands and kick ass shows in the faces of Seattleites with little inhibition and a whole lot of heart. His range of knowledge, enthusiasm, and overall excellent taste in music continues to amaze and inspire.
Tomorrow’s barn burner at the Funhouse features four excellent bands courtesy of Ladies Choice including Great Falls, Madraso, local noise grinders Hunab Ku, and the big draw of the evening Winnipegian noise purveyors Ken Mode.
Ken Mode has recently signed with one of my favorite labels in Profound Lore (home of Ludicra among other notables), and will release their Kurt Ballou produced 4th studio album entitled “Venerable” in August. Few bands can conjure their chaotic excellence but damned if the three other bands won’t give them a run for their money. Madraso is slowly working on new material including a brand new 10 minute roller coaster ride that was previewed at a recent Rendezvous show. Great Falls continues to reciprocate mayhem and doom locally, while Hunab Ku remains a mystery of mathematical intrigue and intense wreckage.
Bottomline: I hope the Funhouse has structural damage insurance.
