As the feedback from Sasquatch! fades away, it is apparent that festival season is upon us. With Bumbershoot months away, you may be bummed that catching one of these events would involve travel and mucho dinero. Fret not! Seattle has another festival to offer.
And it's this weekend!
And it's for a good cause!
Noise for the Needy is taking place this Wednesday through Sunday at all of your favorite Seattle haunts. A quick glance at the schedule reveals something for every musical taste as well as the opportunity to discover a crap load of potential new favorites. Among the bands rocking for the cause will be dear SRG friends The Keeper, playing on a great bill Thursday at the Two Bit Saloon. And of course you're probably not going to want to miss Kinski at Neumo's on Saturday.
It gets better: Noise for the Needy puts on this awesome event each year to benefit a particular organization. This year's proceeds are going to Teen Feed, a local charity that works with homeless teens to ensure their basic needs and rights are being met. With the economy perpetually in the shitter and our local government more concerned with whether or not a fucking Snickers bar has flour in it and handing out bullshit tickets for not wearing a seat belt than the well being of the people, more folks are getting the shit end of the stick and I reckon quite a few of 'em are teens.
"God damn!" you say. "That's a bummer!" you say. "What can I do to help?!" you say.
Well, go to one or more of these shows. It's as easy as that. Hell, you can probably get faded too. Win-win.
Come on, Seattle. We are a fucking class act. We've got the best music in the world, now let's show people we give a damn as well!
