1 SHOW PREVIEW: Pizza Fest 2010 @ The Funhouse

Leave it to Funhouse owner Brian Foss to totally hit the ball out of the park booking a 3 day mini punk festival. If you listen to Sonic Reducer ever you’d know his knowledge of all things down and dirty, fast and fun can be extensive and quite remarkable. Pizza Fest 2010 runs Thursday through Saturday at everyone’s favorite punk rock dive and features a number of off-kilter punk and garage rock acts that unless you are completely devoid of a pulse should sound pretty damn interesting. Everyone from local bands Butts and TacoCat to Mean Jeans, Slippery Slopes and Pizza Fest head honcho’s--New Jersey’s own Personal and the Pizzas-- it’s going to be quite the hodgepodge of obscurity and awesomeness. Even Slippery Slopes alter-egos Diaper and the Shitbags are scheduled to make an appearance-- a rare opportunity.

Personal and the Pizza’s have written an inordinate number of tunes about everyone’s favorite delivery food. Many of which show up on their brand new record “Raw Pie” and should be available on vinyl at Friday’s show. Don’t be quick to judge, these guys are no slouches with their instruments and they know how to read too. Locals the Coconut Coolouts have also penned Pizza themed tunes and have even shared a 7” with Personal and crew, they play Saturday.

There are very few individuals who I have no problem trusting completely when it comes to music and when it comes to punk rock and the like-- Brian knows his stuff. So even though I personally am not familiar with every act on this 3 day / 18 band extravaganza–- I know the next three days at the Funhouse will kick ass.
