0 LIVE REVIEW: Lozen / John Calvin @ Rendezvous (Video)

Lozen at the Rendezvous on August 10 2010

My buddy Alex recently visited from Brighton, UK. It was his first time in the United States and he had a few requests:

1) Drink Northwest beer - HUGE CHECK!
2) Eat a giant cheeseburger - Easy enough!
3) Eat a huge hot dog at a Mariners game - Introduced him to the baseball atrocity of our beloved city and CHECK!.
4) Go to a SOCCER game - Not a problem. Proud he refused another $9 beer!
5) Enjoy some awesome local music.

All requests were within reach and the planets aligned perfectly because Lozen would take the Jewel Box theater stage at the Rendezvous, on a Tuesday no less.

Seattle must love Alex.

Louisiana too! Shreveport products, John Calvin, tore shit up. The guys projected several images during their set, which added to the surreal ambiance and provided a tripped out effect. After lead guitarist Dave Ortega wailed away on his guitar behind his back, Alex injected a, "Mate! These guys are WICKED!!"

Agreed.

The mighty Lozen followed. It cannot be stressed how much energy Lozen brings to the stage. When they play, it is on! Doesn't matter if the house is packed or attending a sleepy, Tuesday summer gig - Lozen delivers. The duo takes the audience for a ride with dreamy, melodic vocals, then follow with a fierce onslaught that packs a glorious wallop and leaves the room with smiles a plenty! When the duo blasts into "Precious Baby Squirrel," it's everything one would want out of a performance. Truly bad ass.

Bottom line: Lozen rules. If you enjoy energetic bands with some substance, then give Lozen a go.

Just ask Alex. He'll tell you, but go see for yourself.
