This weekend Ladies Choice has a couple of dope $5 shows for you down at the Rendezvous. Tonight it’s a trio of ridiculously heavy bands. Teeph is up from California and stoked to grind your face off with a little of the old power violence. These guys have to listen to a lot of Pig Destroyer. Also on the bill are the Guns of Barisal and Same-Sex Dictator. A recently acquired 7" that includes Guns on the b-side opposite Throne of Bone features a technically-savvy instrumental and much promise from the up and coming local metal makers. Same-Sex Dictator is a whole different animal – mixing doom and gloom metal with hardcore for a brutal buffet of crushing sounds and textures. All in all this is an excellent bill – if not the best thing going on all weekend.

Same place same time on Saturday, Jewelbox Theater will host the dual bass wielding hard rockers LOBE, who are currently on a reunion run with a new(ish) drummer. Also, on the bill is another stellar local supporting cast of ex-Bloodhag project The Grindylow featuring Zach and Brent of the one-time literary brutalizers. Ladies Choice mastermind Adam Bass seems to love this band, a clear reason to check them out soon as possible. One man wrecking crew Andrew McInnis aka Labyrinth and the Desert and straight off last weekend’s Doom Fest out at Magnuson Park the British doomsayers Fuck Knuckles round out the eclectic offering. Good times.
