Off the heels of a very successful SRG Presents show a couple weeks ago at the Rendezvous featuring four of the areas mightiest heavy bands: Smooth Sailing, Sandrider, Dog Shredder, and Grenades. We jump right back on horse teaming up once again with our Your Village Sucks Festival cohort Andrew Chapman of Algerbay Records to bring you another scoop of awesomesauce.
SRG and Algerbay presents: My Goodness, Lozen, High Class Wreckage, and Brickbats, Saturday January 8th at Comet Tavern
My Goodness, featuring Joel Schneider (Absolute Monarchs) on guitar/vocals and Ethan Jacobsen on drums, is an up and coming local powerhouse who has already received a fare amount of praise locally including being chosen to play Seattle Weekly's annual REVERB fest back in September. The duo combines a stripped down guitar/drum heavy blues rock sound made famous by The Black Keys with an undeniable punk rock edge. These two dudes rock as hard as anybody currently playing in the city.
Lozen, features Helms Alee’s badass drummer Hozoji Matheson-Margullis on guitar/vocals as well as BFF Justine Valdez on drums. This duo combines thunderous percussion, stony riffs, and a knack for pure sonic destruction that sounds like nothing else I’ve heard come out of the NW. Still one of my favorite shows of 2010 featured Lozen blowing my mind in the depths of one the cities best DIY venues.
High Class Wreckage, features Aaron Krause on bass and vocals, Dirty D on guitars, and Greg Schaefer on the drum kit. Exactly as their MySpace page says these guys play Sweaty Fuckin’ Rock and Roll! Expect nothing less than a high energy, balls to the walls set from HCW, who are easily one of Seattle’s best hard rock bands.
Brickbats, featuring Adam Frank on drums, Robert Malton on guitar, Garth Boyst on bass, and the TRON on vocals (Nathan Donnel from the Greenhouse), is an exciting newer project that has played very few shows thus far. The live recordings available on their Facebook page showcase a dissonant and excitingly noisy sound ala Drive Like Jehu and the Jesus Lizard, and I am excited to see them in action for the first time.
This show has all the right ingredients for a memorable start to 2011, and we are stoked to be able to bring you a show that features not one but four impressive local bands on a non-typical bill -- four of our favorite local bands that should be on all heavy rock fan's radars. Hope to see you out.
