0 SHOW PREVIEW: Acrassicauda at Slim's Last Chance

My first WATCH OR DIE covered the remarkable documentary: Heavy Metal in Baghdad. The film moved me. Going in, I predicted a trippy flick about metal in the style of Sam Dunn's brilliant films: Metal: A Headbanger's Journey or Global Metal.

I couldn't have been more wrong. Heavy Metal in Baghdad proved to be one of the most powerful anti-war flicks of the modern era. Most war flicks cover the soldier's experiences and hardships. However, Heavy Metal in Baghdad revealed the war experiences of the civilian. The film revealed the hardships experienced by regular people like you and me resulting in a powerful cinematic experience. The filmmakers could have followed anyone - the baker, the butcher, the teacher. Anyhow, the filmmakers followed a local Baghdad heavy metal band: Acrassicauda, which proved to be a stroke of genius.

Fortunately for us, Acrassicauda will be in town this Wednesday, 7/20, playing at Slim's Last Chance Shack & Watering Hole. Entrance is only $13 and it should be a ragin' evening. Go see Acrassicauda and witness the latest stage of their incredible journey.
