I was in the mood for something riff heavy, brutal, and LOCAL this morning and remembered I had been meaning to check out Seattle band Cascabel for quite awhile now. They played with Great Falls and Grenades last week at The Fusion Cafe, a show I meant to check out because I have not been to that particular all-ages venue before. Grenades guitarist Eric Christianson mentioned that they ruled live and recommended the band last night as we watched our beloved Mariners tank their final game of the season.
Cascabel aren't breaking down any barriers by blending melodic hardcore with straight up rip roaring thrash metal, but they do it well and if you dig bands like Toxic Holocaust or even Grenades themselves you will dig Seattle's own Cascabel.
