Tomorrow night at the Highline Seattle welcomes back crushing Los Angeles duo Black Cobra together with a stellar local cast, and we have a last minute ticket giveaway for you.
Formed by drummer Rafa Martinez (ex-16, ex-Acid King) and guitarist/vocalist Jason Landrian (ex-Cavity), Black Cobra catapulted themselves onto the scene in 2001 with their ravenous, upbeat and ultimately unique style of punk/hardcore-fueled sludge metal. In 2009, Black Cobra signed with Southern Lord Recordings for the release of Chronomega, a blistering and diversely heavy record from start to finish. For their much praised second record for Southern Lord, 2011’s “Inerval”, the outfit enlisted the talents of Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou and his God City Studio in Salem, Massachusetts. Since its release the band has toured constantly, playing with the likes of High on Fire, The Sword, and Kyuss Lives!, only to break out on their own for a brief end of the year west coast stint that lands them in Seattle for the second time in less than two months.
Joining Black Cobra on this splendid bill are Bellingham’s brilliant speed prog trio Dog Shredder, who are currently readying their second physical release, a 7”, due out in a couple months. Also on the bill are Tacoma’s Lozen, who recently spent time in Red Room studios with Christian Morris recording their next LP. Rounding out the bill is local doom metal duo Bell Witch, which features members of Samothrace and Sod Hauler.
