0 SHOW PREVIEW: White Lung at Rendezvous

It's not often I hear a record that makes me want to dance just as hard as it makes me want to fight. A couple records by The Murder City Devils, specifically "In Name and Blood" and "Empty Bottles Broken Hearts", can still invoke those primal urges. Even records like "Movement" and "Standing the Way of Control" by Gossip inspire that kind of angst and celebration. Maybe it's the long dark seasons here in the PNW that evoke our bands to employ and battle those dueling but complimentary impulses.

It isn't a surprise I suppose that White Lung call the PNW home. The Vancouver BC band's latest record, "Sorry", is a collection of 10 songs, most no longer than 2 minutes, that are nonstop, frantic blasts that bounce somewhere between metal and grunge tinged, dissonant fighting songs like "Thick Lip" and "Those Girls" and pogo inspired punk explosions like the first single "Take the Mirror" and "Glue". The honest truth is, there isn't a stinker on the record. It ends as quick it begins and I haven't quit listening to it since I got it.

On Fri the 8th of June White Lung will be performing at the Rendezvous with Wax Idols, Sick Secrets and Wimps. The show is 21+ and $8 will get you in the door. See you on the dance floor!
