0 SRG PREMIER: Princess - "Kate" from new EP "Welcome Winter"

In recent years, there seems to be a resurgence of that quintessential kinetically explosive live show that used to be a requirement to even attempt to rock. It's a welcome return to this style, after being eschewed by the stereotypical listlessness of the latter grunge years, then converted into chest-swelling machismo by the nu-metal mooks of the late-'90s, before being completely dismissed by the apathetic indie queefs who still continue to dominate modern “rock” radio. Princess is certainly doing their part to give the Northwest scene the raucous and heavy kick in the ass that it has needed for the last 20 years by making their live shows an interactive event, every bit as sweaty, raw, and exciting as their music.

Having spent years shattering stages, themselves, and audiences throughout the Northwest in such bands as Snitches Get Stitches, Mobile Slaughter Unit, and The Keeper, the quartet joined together in 2010 like powerful osteoblasts converging to form some kind of ultimate rock bone, prepared to be thrust into the atmosphere before a glistening black monolith of advanced creation. Riding the wave of devastation encapsulated in their debut EP, The Grim Energy, they recently hit the studio in full regalia, ready for battle.

Next month (November 10th, to be exact), they will be unleashing this latest effort at the Josephine. Growing tighter, more refined, and yet greater in scope and girth, these years playing together have done them well. This is a sneak preview of what you can expect: It's a pounding, gut-rending epic saga writ sweetly concise.
