1 TICKET GIVEAWAY: White Lung | Monogamy Party | Tacocat

Vancouver’s White Lung are plowing through town this Friday night with a stop at Chop Suey to rock faces on their triumphant return from SXSW.  With a week off before embarking on yet another month-long outing – during which they will be teaming up with such acts as Nu Sensae, Wax Idols, and everybody’s goddamn favorite these days, Pissed Jeans – we will either see them in top form, ready to blow off one last blast of steam before a short laundry-and-situps break, or we may see a haggard, road-weary band, chugging through one last show with their soft bed not three hours away.  I would fully expect the former, and with the kind of driving and frenetic melody-infused skate-friendly noise punk these gals and guys launch from the stage, I’m guessing it would be hard not to have fun belting out anthemic choruses and whipping the crowd into a frenzy, even at the end of an exhausting tour.

If, by the extremely odd chance that the headliner is not quite feeling it when they roll into town (oh, they’ll be feeling it), there is no doubt in my mind that witnessing the supporting acts, Monogamy Party and Tacocat, won’t set a huge flame under their bustle to light shit up.  The former are muchly lauded around SRG parts for their explosive live shows and thundering earwormy riffs, while the latter have been a long-standing local favorite for people who don’t hate fun.  It’s one hell of a solid bill, and further proof that the folks at Chop Suey know good and well what they are doing.  We have a pair of tickets for some lucky so-and-so and their matey to win, which is always awesome, as it leaves more money for beer and merch – the foundation of the SRG food pyramid.
