0 INTRODUCTION: New SRG Contributor Jerry Howard

I would just like to introduce and welcome another new voice to SRG, bringing the team to four. Jerry Howard is one of the coolest cats I know, and I am very glad he has agreed to add his two cents to the blog on occasion. Jerry is a key player in the local guerilla film crew-- Taco Cart Productions. The Taco Cart has a couple kick ass short films under their belt including “Girl Trouble”, and last year’s triumph “Vampire Hunter Hank”. ‘Hank’ has been shown in film festivals as far as South Africa, and is totally rad. Though film is his passion, I know music is somewhere towards the top of his list. Jerry has seen his far share of amazing shows over the years as well, including a jealousy inducing Faith No More with Kyuss show in the mid-nineties.

Jerry and I have been buds for awhile now but just recently started making a point to hitting up shows more frequently. A recent Warning:Danger! gig, the D.R.I. show, and now the confirmed Jello Biafra show on the 29th are just the beginning. Jerry’s love of punk and metal will hopefully lead to even more sweet blog posts, adding to the couple he has already contributed. Check out Jerry’s sweet review of the recent D.R.I. show which also includes some very nicely shot video of the show here. You can also check out his work on the Taco Cart Crew’s film blog here. I personally can’t wait to read his next contribution to either blog. Welcome Jerry!

0 Introducing New SRG Writer ~ QuitterDan

Seattle Rock Guy is proud to introduce another new contributor and local rock guy to the mix, my good buddy and former co-worker QuitterDan. Dan and I worked for the same evil vender of Satan’s diabetes serum from ’02-’07. We quickly bonded over music after one day our boss at the time decided it was good idea to have a brief music trivia contest. I admit I was quickly put to rest by Dan’s vast knowledge of obscure punk, and searing 70’s rock, (correct answer: Golden Earring, damn!) but a friendship formed just the same. I credit Dan for bringing to my attention to such amazing bands as: Roxy Music, X, The Exploding Hearts, Heartless Bastards, and Zen Guerilla, but that is only the very tip of his music knowledge iceberg.

Dan’s unique insight not only comes from being a rabid music fan, but also from being a musician himself. Dan beat the skins for popular early nineties bay area alt-rock band Overwhelming Colorfast, and has lent his keen sense of time signatures to other projects as well. Most recently he has been having a blast rocking in multiple Seattle tribute bands including Alice Cooper Tribute “Devils Food”, and the areas only Screaming Trees Tribute band “Black Sun Morning”. The latter recently attracted original Screaming Trees drummer and current “Praying Hand”, Mark Pickerel. Mark jumped up onstage and played with the band during a recent grunge tribute night at the Showbox.

QuitterDan will be throwing his two cents in every once and awhile, and I’m super stoked that he enthusiastically signed on to help expand Seattle Rock Guy's coverage. Welcome QuitterDan to the fold by reading his review(s) of the two day rock bonanza which went down at Neumos two weeks ago as two legendary bands, The Jesus Lizard and Fu Manchu rolled through Seattle on consecutive nights. Rock!

0 Introducing New SRG Writer ~ Metal Matt

It’s hard to believe that Seattle Rock Guy the blog has been around for 6 months already, and so far the response has exceeded any and all expectations. Music is a passion/obsession of mine, and since June the blog has been a nice outlet for venting about the many shows I’ve attended in the second half of 2009. For 2010 I want nothing more than to grow this thing into something that’ll be around for awhile. With that said, I have given it some thought and have decided to extend Seattle Rock Guy’s coverage by adding some new voices to the mix. It has become apparent in recent weeks that in order to successfully keep up with all the important rock, metal, punk, indie bands, shows, records, and news available, I need help. I have recently extended invitations to a few other local rock guys to help me spread the good word, and fight the good fight.

Since things are changing from a one man show to a collective of Seattle Rock Guys, I’d like to introduce my first new contributor, Matt Abramson. I was lucky enough to have met Matt through social networking sites like Blip.fm and Twitter, and quickly realized that we both share a common love for some of the finer things in life including heavy music and stoner metal vinyl. We also realized we’ve banged our heads at many of the same shows over past fews years, and most recently kicked it at the Earth/Pelican/Sunn O))) show in August and Om in September. Metal Matt is an extremely knowledgeable music resource, not to mention he even wields a mighty axe himself. I am very excited and honored that he has signed up to lend his voice to Seattle Rock Guy. The other day I asked Matt if he’d be up for writing some record reviews as his first contribution. Record reviews are one thing I wish I had more of on the site, now I do. What totally rules is he chose two of my favorite records from 2009. Welcome Matt Abramson to the Seattle Rock Guy fold. RAWK!!
