The Absolute Monarchs definitely started my fascination with the bands that were booked on the Cha Cha's unofficial block party stage. When we walked down to see what was going on and maybe to get a $2 Rainier tall can, I was met with a surprisingly awesome sound. They were an unexpected favorite on day 2. Hailing from right in our back yard, they flat out rocked hard. It sounded very reminiscent of something that might have been featured in a certain 90's Seattle music documentary "Hype". Noisy, fuzz-infused, and noisy! I think the Cha Cha was the perfect place to catch this sure to be local favorite, check out the badly produced track on their myspace, it's perfect!
How about that, just noticed they got a mention in Spin's coverage of the CHBP... you don't say!
