Red Fang kicked off their tour with Valient Thorr last Thursday at El Corazon, and like Jerry mentioned the fang gang brought the heavy rock with charismatic force as they always do. It was awesome to see so many youngsters going ape shit during the set, especially when “Prehistoric Dog” hit.
As mentioned before, Red Fang had gone into the studio to record a few covers for a tour EP which was available at the show. This EP features fucking awesome renditions of "Through" by No Talent and a Cherubs tune “Carjack Fairy" (ahh, Cherubs-- a sometimes forgotten about and fucking deliciously noisy band). Also, on the disc is the hotel room trashing RF original-- "Pawn Everything”, and last but not least a ripping cover of “Over the Edge” by seminal PDX punk act The Wipers. Red Fang played the Wiper cover at the show with Valient Thorr’s fashion forward frontman Valient Himself handling vocals. The Red Fang version is way heavier than the original but would you expect anything less? Seek both. Actually do yourself a huge solid and buy, borrow or steal everything the Wipers ever did. You’ll be a better person for it.
On a more somber note, on their journey back down south after the Seattle show, the band was involved in a terrible double rollover accident caused by a deer in the road, which put quite a scare into everyone connected to the band in anyway. Luckily, everyone was fine and escaped the accident with only minor bumps and bruises despite the brutality of the wreckage photos floating around the internet. The guys were of course questionable for their Friday night show at home, but ended up playing the gig anyway despite the horrific turn of events from the night before. How hardcore is that!? Amazing. As of now the guys have borrowed a van and are back on the road. Fucking troopers they are, and we’re super glad they are ok.
