0 SHOW PREVIEW: Despised Icon at Studio Seven

On Sunday night, October 3rd, the Montreal metal band Despised Icon play Studio Seven in their final lap around the country. After only 4 full lengths the band is calling it a day. I've seen Despised Icon more times than I can count as both a headliner and playing support for the like of Suffocation, Deicide and more. For better or worse, it because of bands like Despised Icon that this whole "deathcore" (though the term kinda makes my eyes twitch a little) genre even exists. This is your last chance to see them. Do it!

Sharing the stage with Despised Icon will be Baltimore's Misery Index who, as hyperbolic as it may sound, are one of the best metal bands on the road right now. They take the best qualities of bands like Napalm Death, Obituary and His Hero is Gone – their ferocity, speed, anarcho-punk politics and social commentary - and have created several powerful records over the last 10 years. The band's latest record, "Heirs to Thievery", is a beast!

Also appearing is Relapse Records' Revocation, whose latest record "Existence is Futile" is a nice collection of technical death and thrash metal, and local bands Perfect Janice, Triosis and Culling the Weak. Show time is 6:30, $15 at the door and all ages.
