0 SHOW PREVIEW: The Sword at Showbox at the Market

We’re lucky sons of bitches, us metal fans. 2010 finds us in the midst of a full-blown stoner metal revival (not like the shit ever really went away) and if there’s one band holding down the traditional end of this fine music, it is The Sword. Kind of a side note for their first few records in spite of kicking some serious ass, The Sword have taken to space literally with their new Matt Bayles’-produced album ‘Warp Riders’. This record finds The Sword treading into concept-album territory, but loosely, while finally comfortable enough to stretch out their chops both musically and vocally. Needless to say, ‘Warp Riders’ provides both the shreddiest and the catchiest moments of The Sword catalog. And now The Sword are gonna slice up downtown. when they roll into the Showbox at the Market (moved from Sodo) with their time machine fueled up and the Orange Amps set to ‘space-destroy’. In a year of many great albums and many great shows, this one is a can’t miss.
